Exciting opportunity is available within a highly respected not‑for‑profit organisation seeking an experienced Finance Controller to lead the finance functions and partner with the Executive Manager to drive performance, strengthen financial governance, and support long-term sustainability.

This is a critical leadership role where you will shape financial strategy while ensuring operational excellence across a complex and evolving organisation.

About the Role

 
Reporting to the Executive General Manager, Finance & Commercial Enterprises, you will lead all aspects of financial management across the organisation and its related entities. 

You will play a key role in partnering with the Executive and business leaders, ensuring financial stewardship aligns with strategic priorities and supports informed decision-making.

This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, transformation and performance outcomes.

Responsibilities

Financial Control & Governance
  • Lead all financial operations including reporting, compliance, taxation, audit and risk management
  • Deliver accurate, timely statutory and management reporting
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial performance monitoring
  • Ensure strong internal controls and compliance with legislative requirements
  • Manage grant funding, including tracking, reporting and acquittals
  • Oversee payroll, AP, AR and transactional finance functions
Strategic Finance & Business Partnering
  • Provide high-quality financial insights and recommendations to the Executive and General Managers
  • Lead long-term financial planning, modelling and forecasting
  • Drive performance improvement through analysis, variance reporting and recommendations
  • Support business cases, investment decisions and growth opportunities
  • Build financial capability across operational teams
Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead finance system optimisation and enhancements (e.g. CPM tools such as Jedox) 
  • Improve reporting, automation, and data integrity
  • Strengthen governance, financial policies and workflows
  • Ensure integrity of financial data and reporting structures
Leadership & Culture
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team across financial reporting, control, AP, AR, NDIS billings and payroll 
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Partner across a matrix organisation to deliver outcomes
  • Lead change and support organisational transformation initiatives
About You
 
You are a commercially astute finance leader with strong technical expertise and a collaborative, consultative approach.

Key Attributes

  • High integrity, resilience and adaptability
  • Proven ability to lead change and continuous improvement
Essential Requirement
  • CA or CPA qualification with a degree in Accounting, Finance or similar 
  • Significant experience in senior finance leadership roles
  • Strong expertise across financial control, reporting, and compliance
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability
Desriable
  • Experience in not-for-profit, government-funded or NDIS environments
  • Experience with Corporate Performance Management systems (e.g. Jedox, Adaptive, IBM Planning) 
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver insights and drive business improvement

Eligibility
  • Rights to work in Australia
  • NSW Driver’s Licence
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check (within 3 months)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
